Optimus Prime Pen on the moon base... Part16-6

16-6 To paint the Optimus Prime's head (continue)

Previously we're finished the base blue of the Optimus Prime head by air brush. Now it's time to paint detailing that brush will give the best looks.
You can paint it as either looks new or looks weathering (realistic) The best way, choose your desired looks, select the photos of many views. Then identify colors on each area clearly.

Again I'm not an expert on painting at all, but just share the possible way I've done with it. Let's see mine,

 Becareful on scratching surface around.

There are 3 unpainted area, the middle will be painted with blue, other 2 eyes with Chrome silver. Note: marking tape step was important by this result. If you cut profile of marking type not good enough, you may need to paint it more difficult.

for example, if I will paint the silmilar to this photo. I'll need the basic colors as above.
Note: the 2 right side are Thinner solvent that need to be more careful on paint. They can mix to the base blue color easily.

After prepare all desired colors on plate, identify the color areas. Then try on dummy model (if you have) if it's ok Then apply to your model.

I suggest to use the smallest brush e.g. #0 or # 00 for all areas.
Firstly paint the blue on unpaint area on forehead.

The realistic looks needs shadows. Then I used a mixture of Clear blue & Flat black.

Appy it onto lower area. Do not paint much each time, due to enamel solvent can dissolve the base blue.

the identified area to make shadows

Now finished the blue effect. Next paint the silver color. I used Chrome silver.

 Apply onto face.

this step is a bit difficult that you need to paint precisely.

This point, there is no line for 45 degree on model, you need you paint it.

Move to lower part

Apply to back side

Now we're finished just 2 colors. There will be more on next part. By the way, do you remember the screw mark on back side. After sanding and painting it's gone.
How does it looks now?

Next part (part16-7) will be more detailing... do not miss it.

Thanks for watching
Bye for now :)
