Optimus Prime Pen on the moon base... Part16-1

16-1 To paint the pen

Hi everyone! it's been almost a week that there is no update. Due to I spent that time to make 5 more copies. And I uploaded progress of them on the top manu.
All right... this part (16) I'll start painting with the pen. The pen got 3 pcs separately to be painted. One is Optimus head, another 2 pcs are body of pen. After finish painting. We will assemble them together.

Before start painting the head. Do you get bored when figures got LED light for eyes without painting why? definately it's too difficult of mass production. If they do, they will face the high quantity of reject (I ensure). For me LED eyes without painting looks just no life, no no it won't happen to our Optimus prime head.
The challenge is on size as very small. Then you may need magnifier.

Even if I'm not an excellent painter, but I need to make it the best of mine. Possible? let's see!!!

Optimus Prime's eyes

As many may know that cleaning before painting is really needed.
I used the mixture of 5% distilled vinegas and water 50%

color I used Mr.color 4 colors altogether. Thin black, Thin Blue, white,
and light blue (blue & white)

start with thin blue cover all len of LED light.

I always tentatively start to paint to unuse sample. If it's OK then go to the 2 above.
Brush No.1,2 are suitable.

Once thin blue is dry, use thin white mark on top of len (around 1mm.),
Brush No. 0 or 00 is suitable.

Magnifier help you to see the terminal angle of brush.

mark white on top center, remember only little color paint every time.
Almost one little tap color per one tap paint.

The thin white makes effect of thin blue automatic,
if we use just white it will look not usual.

Next is light blue to make the lines up to pupil.

This photo is not so good. Try to make the thin lines

Now use thin black to do the same as thin blue, but line it in between.

 Side view
mark the blue (not thin blue) on center

Finally coat them up with enamel clear X-22, but I have a feeling as it's not good enough. It looks not natural and looks aggressive like zombie ha ha ha.
Then why not remake it for the better??? ToT

I took new LED for rework (make sure they are functional) Clean them up.

Use thin blue cover a bit more thick. Then flip them up. for stability of thickness.

This is also same process, but you can see the different as thick blue
drive a high contrast.

Look at top view is much different.

This step is to make it more soft of pupil. I decided not to use thin white,
use light blue and create thin circle around pupil.

It's done.

Final process, coat them up with the same. Note: do not use Thininer solvent for top coat. Due to thinner of top coat will mix easily with thinner color.
Then you will need to rework again.

coat them 2 times is OK.

To ensure the thickness stability, you can flip them up till dry.

Test the result of painting skill by put them in the head.

For me.... ahhhh not so bad.... ha ha ha...

See it's not difficult as we think before right?  Honestly... I'd like to tell you guys the truth that I spent more time for taking photos than working paint, especially to grap detail of each photos that was very difficult to me.

So what do you think? like it? will try some day?

Hope you all enjoy a little paint today.
Next part soon (part 16-2) will be Optimus head assembly and paint.

Thanks for watching
Bye Bye... ^^
