Optimus Prime Pen on the moon base... Part9-1

9-1 Decorate satellite receiver and set-up  LED light onto it.

The difficulty of this part is to work onto the small pieces. Mainly of this decoration is to set-up SMD LED light onto it, and make the dewel (metal) at the end to insert onto the moon.

Base on this photo, we can decorate some as per arrows.

master model from toy. Disassemble it as below,

Remove parting line the whole piece, get ready for decoration.

To use only an insulation of 1mm wire. This will work much easy (cutting)

So just remove insulation out from the wire.

Cut each piece around 3-4 mm.

To be easy, layon them with latex glue, then all is ok as position,

drop a bit super glue at the ends.

For this side I cut length = 2.5mm.

make the dimple at terminal as per 1st photo by using any wood, brush it curve.

Then cut it 1.5 mm.

lay on it by latex glue. and final by dropping a little super glue. (Note: we don't have to make it as very strong due to we're going to make silicone mold at last.)

Also use insulation of wire. Then I'll make the hole to hold wire from LED light.

If you can find this kind of wood. the Japanese thin wood is the stuff wood

that is suit this application.

do it carefully 'coz it's very small.

Once you are ok with shape, cut it off.

To attch this piece needs only super glue. because we need to test the holding of wires.

This piece will be the LED light holder. I designed it as 45 degree

(optimum light angle for me) Then from picture you can see I grinded it as 45 degree.

Make the shape for LED light includes the soldering

(soldering shape is sphere so I used ball grinder)

This is very important, you need to have gap around LED for glue to hold LED and soldering well.

 Finally attach it onto its position by 45 degree.

not too difficult right? to work on small pieces is also good sometimes.
